Our Silk
Every Carlota Valeria creation begins long before the first sketch.
We work exclusively with 100% Mulberry silk, the finest and most prized natural silk in the world. Its exceptional softness, luminous drape and remarkable strength are the result of a process that has remained virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Once reserved for emperors, royalty and the world’s most prestigious courts, Mulberry silk has long been regarded as one of the most luxurious textiles ever created.
Our silk is produced from the cocoons of the Bombyx mori silkworm, a species that has been carefully cultivated for generations. Raised in dedicated sericulture farms, these silkworms are fed exclusively on fresh mulberry leaves, a highly controlled diet that gives Mulberry silk its extraordinary purity, smoothness and natural sheen.
Each cocoon produces a single, continuous silk filament that can stretch for hundreds of metres. These exceptionally long fibres create a fabric that is smoother, stronger and more luminous than other varieties of silk, giving every piece its unmistakable fluidity and refined finish.
For us, choosing Mulberry silk is about more than exceptional quality. It reflects our commitment to timeless craftsmanship, enduring beauty and creating pieces designed to be treasured for years to come.
